Amanda Seyfried was joined by Givenchy’s main man, Ricardo Tisci last night for the annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Gala. Wearing a silky slip dress with ribbon and cut-out details designed by the man himself, the actress looked incredible with a slick up-do and classic silver jewels. Joined by the likes of Karlie Kloss, Lorde, Diane von Furstenberg, Vera Wang, Zac Posen, Zendaya Coleman, Demi Moore and Anna Wintour, Amanda spent the evening with fashion’s elite to celebrate this year’s winner of the Fashion Fund.

The whopping $400,000 prize has previously helped to launch the careers of superstars such as Alexander Wang and Joseph Altuzarra, making it a highly coveted prize. And this year, the award went to not one, but three, designers. Rather than naming one winner and two runners-up, the CFDA selection committee gave $300,000 each to Aurora James (of footwear label Brother Vellies), Rio Uribe from streetwear brand Gypsy Sport and womenswear designer Jonathan Simkhai (a celeb fave).
If these young talents aren’t on your radar just yet, they soon will be. As well as the monetary prize, each winner will receive a year-long mentorship from an industry veteran in order to help them develop and expand their respective labels.
And as well as announcing the triumphant winners, Ricardo Tisci also gave a speech to the crowd, referring to Amanda as one of his “family” before discussing everything from 9/11 to celebrity culture. As Anna WIntour told Tisci: “All roads in pop culture seem to lead back to you, and for good reason. You are a designer perfectly suited to the age we live in. You are as connected to the worlds of music and art as you are to fashion and how they all enrich each other.”
Now that’s praise indeed.
Emotions ran high as the winners took to the podium to make their heartfelt acceptance speeches, which were as inspiring as they were moving. As Jonathan Simkhai said: “Never give up and follow your heart.” Sound advice, if ever we’ve heard it.
