It’s official – Cara Delevingne has hooked up with Mulberry to create a handbag collection. The design dream team unveiled their collaboration to the fash pack at London’s Claridge’s hotel yesterday, creating a serious London Fashion Week buzz.
After the supermodel tweeted a teaser video and picture of a handbag with the caption ‘coming soon’, we had a feeling a Mulberry ‘Cara’ bag might have been on the cards at the LFW presentation, but it turned out to be a whole lot more than that.
Cara herself showcased the collection by wandering barefoot around a woodland setting surrounded by a pack of Mulberry dogs. The Mulberry Cara Delevingne bag is a three-in-one style that can be carried as a rucksack, shoulder bag or hand-held and comes in mini, medium and large. There’s also a limited edition bag inspired by Cara’s lion finger tattoo.
Far from just putting her name to the collection, Mulberry tell us Ms Delevingne worked closely with the design team, visiting the archives, choosing leathers and sketching ideas to create her debut bag collection. All the bags created for the collection will be made in England at Mulberry’s Somerset ateliers, where a team of 700 local craftsmen and craftswomen will bring the collection to life. As we know, Made In England also happens to be tattooed on the bottom of Cara‘s foot so, in tribute to the super, a copy of the tat is stamped on the bottom of each bag. Cool, eh?
As for who she sees carrying her namesake arm candy, Cara revealed: “My Granny will like this bag. She’s one hundred and two years old. My five-year-old cousin will probably like this bag too. He’s a boy.”
