Cara Delevingne has been plagued with rumours that her modelling days are behind her after only walking in one show (Chanel, obv) over 2015’s Fashion Week.
And now, the 22-year-old has addressed the speculation once and for all in a new interview with ITV’s Lorraine, in which she admits she never really picked modelling in the first place, and says her future is definitely in acting.
‘Modelling I love but acting is my passion’, she told journalist Ross King. ‘I think modelling kind of chose me, it’s never what I expected, I always wanted to be an actress and I think I use acting so much in modelling.’
She continued: ‘You ask anyone I do a shoot with, I’m always running around doing accents, dancing, singing, it’s never just a normal shoot!’
Looks like we shouldn’t expect too many more struts from Ms D in the future then, if she can help it.
The Burberry beauty also spoke about the stigma attached to a model-turned-actress label to Time Out. ‘The first time I did Fashion Week, I was like: Right, I might as well give up acting because I’m screwed.’
But there is a bright side to her model fame. Cara recently surpassed the 10 million Instagram followers mark, and admits that Instagram is the one thing she could never quit.
‘People [talk about] the way I look or they think that I’m doing something that I’m not’. she said. ‘People hear rumours and they comment on them. And I have no control over it.
‘Sometimes I get sad and I think: God I can’t ever turn back from this. I can’t switch it off. There is no return And it freaks me out. But at the same time, I wouldn’t be living any other life. And to be honest, I don’t care what they think. I’m happy.’
We’re happy too, Cara. Long live the silly selfies!
