With her acting career really starting to take off, Cara Delevingne has taken a major backseat from the modelling world recently almost totally missing fashion week back in Feb, apart from her appearance walking in Chanel’s brasserie with bestie, Kendall Jenner. A total Chanel girl, she also walked for the brand’s Salzburg and New York M’etiers d’Art shows, even taking a turn on the mic in NYC.
And with her total alliance with the brand, Cara was of course the face chosen to front Chanel’s pre-fall campaign. Shot by Karl Lagerfeld himself, Ms Delevingne showed that her modelling days certainly aren’t behind her, working a super-dark berry lip and looking amazing in the new collection.
And she isn’t alone in the campaign either. Starring alongside Pharrell whom she performed with in New York, and Chanel’s fave mini model, Hudson Kroenig, donning alpine jumpers, the campaign looks like the chicest ski trip ever.
Pharrell’s presence in the fashion industry is going from strength to strength, with him being awarded the CFDA’s Fashion Icon Award later this year, and landing a Chanel campaign is yet another impressive string to add to his fashion bow.
In contrast, Cara’s pull away from the modelling world is a result of her chasing her acting dream. With the lead role in ‘Paper Towns’ creating a huge amount of buzz, it certainly seems as if Cara is going to be as big a hit in the Hollywood world of film as she has in model land.
However, it wasn’t necessarily always Cara’s path. Speaking to The Sun, Cara has spoken about how she never considered being a model:
“I never thought people would actually want me to be a model. I was a very weird gremlin, awkward-looking child. I was a feral kid, a big tomboy. Beauty wasn’t important at all and still isn’t in a way.”
