Becoming a Father comes hand in hand with many a learning curve. But it was Ryan’s handy-man skills that were put to the test when GQ tasked the new dad with building an Ikea crib.
From reading the infamously puzzling instructions to calling for help and even being driven to drink, the video makes for a hilarious interpretation of one of the challenges all dads face at one point or another – and left us loving him even more than we already did. If, like us, you’re struggling to see how that’s possible, watch the full video here.
Meanwhile, Ryan has been dealing with something a little more pressing.
Since wife Blake Lively gave birth to their first baby, James, earlier this year, the couple have done their best to keep snaps of their daughter under wraps.
But in a new interview with GQ magazine, the 34-year-old actor has revealed that he suffered the ultimate betrayal after a close friend tried to sell a photo of his baby to the paps that he and Blake sent from the delivery room.
‘A guy that I’d known for my whole life, one of my closest friends growing up, he had been shopping pictures of my baby around’, he said.
‘Somebody I grew up with, yeah. Somebody I’ve known, who’s been one of my closest friends, for 25 years… It was like a death. It was like one of those devastating things to find out.’
And the Deadpool star maintains that what made it worse was that they only picked a few special people to send the picture to.
‘I mean, I don’t think he thought he would ever be caught, but it’s a pretty narrow group of people that I would send photos like that to’, Ryan said as he recalled the story.
‘They’re just, like, my closest family and my closest friends: “Here’s us in the delivery room!”’
Unsurprisingly, he’s now cut the former friend out of his life, with Ryan also revealing that the friend in question was the kind to ask him for money on more than one occasion.
He continued: ‘There isn’t really a conversation to have. It’s just, “Oh, well, now I’m never going to see you or talk to you again, unfortunately.” That’s kind of how it works out.’
After the birth, Ryan was very guarded about the topic of his baby, dodging any probing interview questions surrounding his new family.
It was only during a chat on The Today Show that Ryan finally put an end to the speculation and confirmed his daughter’s name for the very first time.
Are you ready?
“It’s Butternut Summersquash.” He said.
No, he really did. But, of course, he was joking. Phew!
He went on to reveal: “It’s James,” he said, seriously. “Everyone knows.”
“I didn’t want to be the first guy screaming it out to the media,” Reynolds explained. “Because as we know, little girls turn into teenage girls and little teenage girls sometimes scan through the archives…”
Family first, eh?
We love that.
Little James Reynolds.
