If you had got your hopes that Beyonce would star in Cooper’s upcoming remake of A Star Is Born I’m afraid we’re about to dash them.
Rumours have been flying around over the last few months that Cooper’s number one choice for the lead in his directorial debut, A Star Is Born was the none other than Beyonce.
A Star Is Born was originally made in 1937 and tells the story of woman who finds fame and falls in love with a Hollywood actor. The film has already been remade twice – starring Judy Garland in 1954 and Barbara Streisand in 1976 – but Cooper is reportedly keen to give it a third shot.
Naturally Cooper is intent on casting the perfect female protagonist, but apparently his leading lady has pulled out.
According to Page Six, Cooper’s dreams have been shattered, and it’s all down to budget.
A source told the paper: “Beyoncé wanted too much money, and Warner Bros. balked at her price.”
It seems even Cooper can’t afford the big bucks Queen Bee demands. Crikey, we can’t imagine how much she charges.
Whether Beyonce’s withdrawl from the movie puts Cooper’s whole project in jeopardy is debated.
“The production budget was also said to be an issue with the studio, so the project has fallen apart,” one source said.
However another seems to think the film will go ahead without Bey.
“This project is something Bradley has been involved with for a long time. It has gone on the back burner, but he’s still working on it, among other projects,” a separate source claimed.
So if Beyonce isn’t going to play the leading role, who will Cooper cast?
Will he cast another singer superstar such as Rihanna or Taylor? Or would he choose past colleague and BFF J-Law? The speculation continues…
