With the New Year fast-approaching, our wanderlust has well and truly reached fever pitch. Yep, while we’ll still be attempting our usual health and fitness resolutions (who isn’t?!), 2016 is looking like the perfect time to pack our bags and embrace our inner jetsetter. And in light of this, we’ve put together a list of all the most beautiful destinations to visit next year. Prepare for some serious mind blowing…
If it’s palm-fringed lagoons, lush rainforests and soaring volcanoes you’re after, Hawaii is just the ticket. Put on your lei and hula on down to the beach where you’ll be met with more cocktails than you keep count of. And if vegging out isn’t your style, this paradise treasure-trove is full of otherworldly experiences – we’re talking snorkelling with turtles and surfing some of the biggest waves you’ll ever come across.
Think spectacular waterfalls, breathtaking canyons and stunning glaciers. Iceland has fast become one of the world’s top travel destinations, not least for it’s famous geothermal Blue Lagoon spa. But as well as a shedload of jaw-dropping outdoorsy attractions, a visit to the cosmopolitan capital Reykjavik isn’t to be missed, either. It plays host to some seriously cool bars – make ‘brennevin’ your bevvy of choice!
Masai Mara South Africa
Home to the second highest density of lions in the world, the Masai Mara is one of Africa’s most popular safari destinations – and rightly so. Whether it’s your first time or you’re a bit of a safari expert, Masai Mara is the place to go if you fancy spotting out some wildebeest. There’s hot air balloons and sunset watching on the roster, too. Now that’s one for the bucket list.
Beyond the skyscrapers, Hong Kong boasts a vibrant cultural scene that deserves more recognition than it gets. Some of the world’s best restaurants, shopping malls, bars and museums are housed here and if, like us, you’re a bit of a foodie, the Chinese markets will make for one of the best taste experiences of your life.
Stock up on your sleep ladies, Lady Liberty is calling and you won’t want to waste any time catching zzz’s. Of course, the shopping is quite possibly the best in the world, but there’s A LOT more to do than you think. Once you’ve ticked off all the touristy bits, the Big Apple is jam packed with secret hideouts – head to Chelsea and Brooklyn.
Forever daydreaming of picture perfect beaches, sunrise yoga classes and super nutritious snacks on tap? Say hello to Bali. The tropical ambience, clear blue seas and paper white sand make for one of the most beautiful locations you will ever lay eyes upon. Seminyak is the place du jour if it’s idyllic beaches you’re after, while Ubud is our second choice with its very own monkey forest.
So there you have it, all the very best places to visit come 2016. Thank us later.
