Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt easily have one of the biggest broods in Hollywood – but the actress admits that it wasn’t exactly planned.
In a super honest new interview with Cambodian news station CTV, Angelina makes a confession – she never wanted to have babies.
‘It’s strange, I never wanted to have a baby’, the 40-year-old said. ‘I never wanted to be pregnant. I never babysat. I never thought of myself as a mother.’
It’s so refreshing to hear Ange speaking so candidly about not having strong maternal instincts – after all, some women just don’t, right?
But it was when she took a trip to Cambodia 15 years ago to film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider that everything changed for the star.
After being inspired to become a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador, Jolie then travelled around the country visiting children at Cambodian schools. It was then that the Mr & Mrs Smith star had an epiphany.
‘It was suddenly very clear to me that my son was in the country, somewhere’, she said.
In 2002, Angelina adopted Maddox (now aged 14). And now, her and hubby Brad Pitt share five other children – Pax, 12, Zahara, 10, Shiloh, 9, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 7.
Jolie’s honesty proves that women can have all sorts of doubts about motherhood, and that’s okay. And if you decide not to have children at all? Well, that’s okay too.
It’s not just Ange that has been opening up lately about her family life – Brad also recently said some seriously sweet things about his A-list wife.
In an interview with W Magazine, Brad gushed: ‘It’s surprising how much I enjoy the direction of my wife. She’s decisive, incredibly intuitive, and might I say sexy at her post. I trust her with my life.’ Naw.
Still one of our favourite celebrity families, hands down.
