Alexander Wang, Balenciaga designer, teaming up with high-street giant
? We’ve got to admit, we didn’t see this one coming. Yep, just before midnight, ahead of a star-studded bash hosted by the two brands at Coachella Festival in California, H&M revealed their first-ever collaboration with an American designer via a video on Wang’s Instagram account that read “Alexander Wang X H&M”. Cue squeals from fashionistas around the globe.
Hitting stores on 6 November (put that in your diaries now), the range looks set to be an instant sell-out, with Wang offering – alongside clothes and accessories – a “new take on lifestyle products that go beyond fashion”. If his own line is anything to go by, think headphones, yoga mats, keyrings and vases. “I am honoured to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations,” said Wang, in a statement released by H&M. “The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to pushing boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.”
Obviously, the man himself was at the Coachella shindig along with H&M creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch and celebs including Kate Bosworth, Katy Perry and Emmy Rossum. Iggy Azalea kept everyone entertained, taking to the stage in curve-clinging monochrome hotpants and a leather crop top. Well, we’d say that this is definitely some fashion news worth celebrating. Roll on November.
