Following successful collaborations with the likes of M&S, AG Jeans and Mulberry, our favourite fashionista is going it alone. Yep, the inevitable has happened. Alexa Chung is launching her very own fashion label.
In an official statement Alexa revealed she would be the Creative Director at the helm of Alexachung, a contemporary-priced ready-to-wear line.
“Surprise! I’m starting my own fashion label! After many seasons of inspiring and eye opening collaborations with some of my favourite brands, I have decided that now is the perfect time to establish my very own fashion line.”
Building on her experience gained whilst dabbling with designing, and capitalising on her huge following, this is an obvious move for the style star.
“I feel as though I’m kind of prepared to do it now. If it had been any time sooner than this, I either wouldn’t be responsible enough or have been able to take on this kind of feat,” Alexa told Business of Fashion.
So, what do we know so far about Alexa’s eponymous line? Well, it seems she’s going to be a pretty busy lady. The range will draw upon her impeccable personal style, and will include denim, daywear, eveningwear, shoes and jewellery, as well as special products. Plus, Alexa will have her work cut out managing a six-person design team.
We don’t know much more but considering Alexa is not one to put a style foot wrong – whether she’s rocking a metallic mini, a tea dress or fluffy leopard coat – we predict exciting things from her designing debut.
Wondering how you might get your hands on a piece of Alexachung? The first collection will be sold at the likes of Selfridges, Matchesfashion.com, as well as via a dedicated e-commerce platform from May 2017. Roll on next year!
