Alber Elbaz Leaves Lanvin – We Look Back At His Best Red Carpet Moments

It’s been a week of style bombshells in the fashion world this week, first with news of Raf Simons leaving Dior and now a sad day for Lanvin lovers everywhere, as Alber Elbaz departs from his role as Creative Director at the French fashion house.

The much-loved fashion head and Lanvin “have ended their collaboration” after 14 years and it seems it wasn’t a mutual brake-up. Uh-oh!

Although the brand are yet to make an official statement, Elbaz has released his own personal statement, confirming his departure and revealing that the decision is not his. “At this time of my departure from Lanvin on the decision of the company’s majority shareholder, I wish to express my gratitude and warm thoughts to all those who have worked with me passionately on the revival of Lanvin over the last 14 years”. It’s said that Elbaz has had “disagreements’ with major shareholder Shaw-Lan Wang and Lanvin’s chief executive officer, Michele Hulban recently, which could be the reason for this sad parting.

We’ve all been there, grab the ice-cream, Alber, you seem to have been dumped! Although we’re sure the loyally long-serving designer won’t be on the market for long…

Leaving behind a Lanvin legacy to be proud of, Elbaz has spent 14 years at the helm using his polished yet playful approach to design to create some of the most lusted after red carpet gowns of all time. There’s not a stylish starlet we can think of that hasn’t worked one of the label’s elegant designs, from Meryl Streep to Natalie Portman to Emma Stone, Lanvin’s red carpet credentials are a force to be reckoned with.

We thought we’d take a look back over some of the most stand-out moments as we bid farewell to yet another fashion great….

1. Emma Stone

Probs the most recent stand-out has to be Emma Stone at the 2015 Golden Globes, stepping out of the traditional red carpet gown and into a slick jewel encrusted jumpsuit and kicking the red capret fashion radar up a notch.

4. Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is yet another Lanvin addict, wowing in gowns from the French fashion house’s collection on many an occasion but this nude one shoulder number that she sported to the Toronto Film Festival back in Spetember was a front runner in her Lanvin history for us. The made-for-her dress was specially designed for the Black Swan actress and she complemented it perfectly with her dark berry lips.

5 Reese Witherpoon

Another firm favourites has to be Reese Witherspoon’s stamement colour block frock, worn to the Critics Choice Movie Awards 2015

6. Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe’s feminine floral dress, which she wowed in just last week in LA, loked absolutely gorgeous.

7. Harry Styles

Saving the best till last, Harry Style’s most memorable fashion moment of all time. Remember when Lanvin put ultimate rock boy Harry in a quirky pinstriped suit at the British Fashion Awards last year? Well, we do, and it was fabulous!
