Whenever we switch on a TV, open a newspaper or check social media we are bombarded with depressing news. If the press is anything to go by planet earth is currently not a very happy place to be. It’s easy to let these stories get you down and that’s why some clever folk decided to name today as ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ day’ – yep it really is a thing.
To mark this day we thought we’d share some of Internet’s best acts of random kindness. These touching tales will move even the most cold-hearted of people. Apologies in advance for any tears…

5. Couple give huge tip to overworked waiter
A couple who received awful service while dining out at a sushi restaurant decided not to punish their waiter but reward them. They took to Facebook to share the receipt and this explanation:
“As I sat there and watched him run back & forth and apologize for the wait, I said to Steven… Wow, this used to be us. Waiting tables. I don’t miss it at all and I never loved that job. I did it for the tips. Steven and I agreed it would feel good to make this guys night when he would probably be getting minimal to no tips due to slow service. We walked out before he saw this and I’m not posting this for a pat on the back. I’m just sharing this as a friendly reminder to think of the entire situation, before you judge. And always always always remember where you came from.”
6. Couple rewards single dad who takes his daughter out on Valentine’s Day
When a single dad went out with his six year old daughter on Valentine’s Day he could never have predicted what was going to happen next. A couple in the same restaurant took home their bill and left him this note…
7. A café in Greece opens its doors to local stray dogs
A Greek eatery called Hot Spott lets stray dogs star over night to avoid them freezing in the cold.
