It’s official, our fave 90s pop trio TLC have announced plans to record their fifth and final album. So long Blue Monday, that’s the best news we’ve heard all year.
Seeking funding for the album through Kickstarter, the legendary group are rewarding donations to the record with everything from TLC music video outfits and phone calls to an exercise class and slumber party with Chilli herself. Where do we sign up?
It might be a while until the next ‘Waterfalls’ is rocking out of our radio so in the meantime we’ve rooted around to find TLC’s best and most 90’s outfits of all time. Enjoy!
The beginning of the TLC trio way back in 1992 when (l-r) Chilli, Lisa Left Eye Lopes and T-Boz first stole our hearts. Kicking off their iconic TLC style with oversized plastic hats, novelty glasses and oversized pop colour t shirts, it was clear these three were never going to be wallflowers.
Swapping their kids TV style for something a little more sophisticated (and revealing), TLC opted for shipwreck chic at the 1995 MTV Music Awards.
It’s back to their old faithful and 90’s staple, the oversized sports luxe top, for their Vegas performance in 1996. Baggy metallic trousers and slicked on warpaint make TLC’s bling American-football meets spaceman look one of our all time favourites.
In case we’d forgotten who they were, the TLC gals take a more obvious approach to self-branding. Managing to look both risque (black netting and sketchily placed letters) and like cartoon super heroes, there’s literally no look these pop style icons can’t pull off.
Same year, very different vibe. A classic TLC tribal bondage/Asian-inspired hair/biker boot look shows the girls have come a long way since their plastic hats and sunglasses.
