It’s not just the gowns we’ve been eyeballing from the Oscars’, the hair and beauty was pretty award-winning too! From swept back updo’s to big, bouncy waves, bold lips to smokey eyes, these are the beauty looks we think deserve a gong of their own!
Nothing says red carpet like a head of Hollywood curls and leading the way at this year’s Oscars was Brit beauty, Keira Knightley. Choosing more of a natural ‘undone’ wave that complemented her woodland-esque Valentino outfit, the centre parting and subtle headband completed her ‘flower fairy’ finish. Of course, you can’t go wrong with some old school glamour and Emma Stone brought it in bucket loads. Styling her hair into neat, glossy Marcel waves that she tucked to one side, that bold lip gives her retro look extra authenticity.
Updo’s are a traditional choice for stars hitting the spotlight as they help show off all those fancy necklines and sexy skin, but rather than intricate chignons and tousled topknots, it was the ponytail that J-Lo and Dakota Johnson plumped for. Positioning them perfectly on the crown for maximum swishability, and bending the ponytail with a tong at the ends to keep that bouncy texture in tact for the entire awards ceremony, it’s less schoolgirl, more sex kitten.
Understated but in an amazing, ‘we want it now’ kind of way, Sienna Miller and Felicity Jones nailed the natural beauty look. Creamy complexions, peachy lips and a non-traditional smokey eye (Sienna chose this season’s earthy browns while Felicity favoured soft greys), it showed off that kind of radiance us mere mortals can only dream of. Gorgeous.
We’re not sure if Australian actresses, Margot Robbie and Naomi Watts had a beauty pow-wow pre awards but they both rocked the red carpet with a bright and punchy lip. Super striking, while Margot went for a matte orange red pout that was utterly flawless, Naomi vamped it up with a deep berry shade – still a big hitter for spring. Thank goodness A-lister’s are all about the air kisses!
