The Popular Beauty Product That Could Hurt Your Lips

Peel-off lip stain has been really having a moment for beauty fanatics on both Instagram and YouTube

If you’ve never heard of it before, it’s a new product that seems to have gone viral, boasting long-lasting lip colour. Berrisom, a Korean cosmetics brand, seems to be the most popular on social media.

Coming out of a tube, it is applied like a thick gloss which then dries after being left on for around 15 minutes. Next up, you simply peel it off, and you’re left with a colourful lip stain that lasts for 8-12 hours without budging or smudging.

Sounds amazing, right?

Well, according to Teen Vogue, make-up experts have warned that this product might be causing some damage to your lips.

Peach & Lily’s founder Alicia Yoon told the publication, ‘I’m a little wary of the product because there are enough people who have commented about the fact that sometimes it can cause some damage to lips…’

Alicia also revealed that this ‘damage’ seems to be a problem ‘if lips are chapped or not in the greatest shape.’

But we’ve all been there, right? Adding a slick of lip lacquer when our lips are already a little dry can always make them even more flakey.

So, it seems that the problem is mostly down to locking in that moisture.

A top tip? Keep those lips hydrated with a good lip primer before applying your choice of colour.
