The answer to all our summer skin stressors is here, and it goes by the name of Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation, £25.50. MAC’s latest hero is one that I can safely say I love – and I’m not a foundation lover by any means. Being blessed with a pretty even skin tone (even if I do say so myself) I have always tended to steer clear of foundations, in fear of the heavy, full face mask I so dread.
I’m a lover of the natural look, however I struggle with dark circles (honestly, they are the bane of my life) and so, when I do use foundation, its sole purpose is to help blend my concealer so that it is not obvious.
Because of this, I knew that I would need to bring a foundation with me on my recent holiday to Thailand – there was just one thing I was concerned about: will it stay put through the sweat and 40 degree heat.
Having heard about the latest addition to the cult Pro Longwear line, I hedged my bets and decided to give it a try. It’s claimed to have 16 hours wear time and actually repels moisture from the skin, clever right? I’m not keen on powders because I don’t like looking cakey, so essentially it was as my only option.
One the first evening of my trip, I applied it as I would my normal foundation, the formula is really lightweight and even though it provides good coverage it leaves a really natural finish – hurrah!
Several hours later during my first trip to the toilet, I inspected my face in the mirror and was delighted with what I saw. Was I a bit sweaty? Well yes – I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Thailand, but it’s possibly one of the hottest, most humid places ever. But, there was still foundation on my face, even though I expected every last drop to be gone.
They say neither rain nor tears can budge the stuff, but lets just say, if it made it through a night out on holiday you can be sure it’s going to last all day and night in England.
