Yup, that's right. L'Oreal promises to have a foundation for every skin tone in the UK. So obvs, we put it to the test.
If you don’t happen to fall within the six or seven ‘standard’ foundation shades in the mass market, finding a foundation for every skin tone can be difficult – and expensive. But now, L’Oreal have added even more shades to their cult True Match Foundation range, meaning there’s a whopping 23 shades to choose from. That’s more than any other foundation brand on the cheaper scale of the mass market.
There’s loads of famous faces heading up the campaign, from Cheryl to Sarah-Jane Crawford. And there’s insta-famous stars like Rosie Bea and Amena! Yup, L’Oreal really are proving we are all worth it, and there really is a foundation for every skin tone. Hurrah.
Not only has the beauty big wigs upped their shade game, they’ve also taken into account undertones. The new shades are labelled W (for warm undertones) N (for neutral) and C (for cool). Pretty fancy, eh?
Obviously, we like a good challenge here at LOOK HQ, so we put the new shades to the test on the LOOK team. And we’ve gotta admit – we were all loving them!
A foundation for every skin tone: the big LOOK beauty trial
Sarah Barlow, Junior Fashion Stylist, True Match Foundation Shade, 5C
“I don’t usually wear liquid foundations as I have quite greasy skin and often find them too thick, ‘cakey’ and oily. However I was really impressed with how light and easily blend-able this one was.”
Victoria Adegboyega, Senior Picture Researcher, True Match Foundation Shade 8N
“I find it hard to get the undertone of my foundation right when it’s winter, let alone in summer! For that reason I usually stick to my trusted premium foundations. I was really impressed by this foundation. Plus it’s a bargain!”
Lucie Clifford, Fashion Stylist, True Match Foundation Shade 5N
“I was really surprised at how light and fresh this foundation looked on my skin. The colour matched my skin tone really nicely and left my skin smooth and glowing. Really impressed with the overall result!”
So if you’re struggling to find a foundation to match your skin tone, you might want to give this one a go! We’re pretty sure you won’t be disappointed.
