With 6am call times, backstage hustling, racing between shows and after-parties that have us coming home at 3am- surviving fashion month is a struggling in itself. But here are the essential products that help our Beauty Editor, Sam Freedman, through the chaos…
Bustling London is always crazy, but most certainly the trendiest of all four cities. When I’ve got to pack in 12 shows a day, I need my Brit-born beauty bag to keep me looking seriously on-trend.
The £4.49 Hair Trick
With London’s unpredictable weather I never know whether my hairs going to fall flat or frizz out. Batiste new Smooth It Frizz Tamer, £4.49, is always in my handbag to fix my hair, whatever way it chooses to go.
Grabbing food on-the-go isn’t always healthy, so that’s why I want my skincare to be. Nip + Fab’s new Kale Make-Up Remover Pads £12.95 contain real extracts of kale, cucumber and vitamin A, C and K and makes my skin feel clean and always.
The ‘It’ London Lip
A lip is a must in London, plus it keeps everyone distracted from my tired eyes. Topshop Lip & Cheek Stains, £8.50 are the most hassle-free and require minimum touch ups. The colours used at the Unique show were Wilderness (berry) and Red Shoes (red), my faves.
Reviving Skin Oil
The journey back from The Big Apple always leaves my skin dry. That’s why Skin & Tonic’s Brit Beauty Oil, £28 is so good. It’s light-weight and totally non-greasy so I can wear under my make-up or at night.
Glow Boosting Base
Half-way through LFW my skin looses its perkiness, so I grab Illamasqua’s Radiance Veil, £32. It looks amazing under foundation, or even on its own. It gives me an instant glow, I almost look like I’ve been on hols!
Jo Malone’s new Cardamom and Mimosa Perfume, £42, comes in a travel mini which is perfect for my handbag. A few spritzes and I feel more zen through the crazy backstage madness.
I normally do my mani at-home myself during Fashion Week. These new Nails Inc Gel Effect autumn shades, £15 each, are so dreamy and long-lasting, you don’t need to fuss with the real-thing.
Quaffling champagne at A-list parties requires Oliver Bonas Hand Cream, £8.50. It smells delicious and comes in a shiny, silver tube, which I can easily spot at the bottom of my handbag.
Contouring Sticks Cara Loves
Contouring and highlighting are still huge buzz-words backstage, Burberrry Face Contour Efforless Contouring Pen and Highlighting Luminour Pen, £25 each, make it so simple. They were used on Cara, Sienna and Suki backstage, and their make-up artist told us, they all wanted to steal them.
Gel To Powder Styler
A quick re-style in the back of the cab is essential when I don’t have time to go home between shows and parties. Bed Head’s Joy Ride, £16.95 is a serum that turns into a powder so hair looks tousled, disheveled and holds a mean top knot.
