Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum: Tried & Tested

Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum, £48

Here at LOOK, we love anything by Liz Earle. All the natural ingredients, the eggshell blue packaging, and that soothing smell. So, we were doubly excited when we heard rumours about another addition to the Superskin range – the Superskin Serum. Our beauty intern Annie put it to the test as soon as it landed on our desk…

As I’m only in my early twenties, I often question the need for a serum. I don’t really have any niggling wrinkles that concern me, and I’m careful with sun protection, so thankfully I’m free of sun spots. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean that I don’t have skin issues that concern me; my skin is very dry, and can often become flaky in the colder months.

However, since incorporating Liz Earle’s new Super Skin Serum into my skincare routine, I have been suitably impressed. All that dryness I mentioned – banished; my skin was left feeling soft and plump, and gave a radiant glow (even on six hours sleep) that only makeup could contend with – I often went without foundation (it was that good!).

I was fascinated to discover which mystery ingredient was making such a noticeable difference to my skin, and was pleasantly surprised to find the magic was all natural. Liz Earle is known for using naturally potent ingredients, those which have been proven to make a real difference to the skin. The top three in this serum are…

1.     Persian Silk Tree extract: counteracts skin fatigue, brightens and evens skin tone

2.     Pomegranate Flower extract: collagen-boosting, firming and anti-inflammatory

3.     Rhubarb root extract: moisturises skin, leaving it plump and glowing

Woman behind the brand: the wonderful Liz Earle

It’s suitable for skin of all ages and types; use it twice a day like I did for maximum effect. And remember, use your serum before your moisturiser; it has a thinner consistency, so should be applied before if you want it to meet its anti-ageing potential. It’s fast absorbing, so there’s no need to wait an age before slapping on your night cream.
