This Is The Secret Behind Kylie Jenner’s Make-Up

How much did you love Kylie Jenner‘s make-up look at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night?

The 18-year-old was sporting dramatic smoky eyes, a coffee-coloured pout, highlighting bronzer and some seriously expert contouring. Miaow.

You’d assume that whoever created Kylie’s fire-hot look was a seasoned professional who’d been working on celebs for years, right? Well. You’d be wrong.

In fact, Kylie found her make-up artist Ariel Tejada on Instagram – and he’s just 20 years old.

Ariel tells Buzzfeed: ‘Kylie DM’d me herself on Instagram and told me: “Next time you’re in town, let’s work together. I told her: “I’ll be there in a week, let’s do it.”’

This turned out to be a little fib. The New Yorker was so keen to work with Kylie that he rearranged his travel plans to meet her, continuing: ‘I didn’t even have a flight booked or anything.’

But it was definitely a good move for Ariel. He *majorly* impressed the Keeping Up With The Kardashians teen and now has some of her most famous beauty looks under his belt.

‘She was obsessed with the make-up. She said: “Can I keep you?” And I was like: “Of course!”‘ he explains.

Not only that, but he’s since worked his cosmetic magic on stars including Naya Rivera and Kylie’s sisters Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian. Not bad, eh?

Ariel particularly likes making up Kylie’s peepers, saying: ‘Kylie has beautiful eyes – they’re very mesmerising.’

However, there’s one (quite surprising) thing that he doesn’t get much say on – those famous lips. He reveals: ‘It’s a team effort. I essentially do everything else, but she likes to line her own lips.’

So does Ariel have a message any budding make-up artists? All he has to say is: ‘If you’re not taking advantage of social media, then you’re making a huge mistake.’

It really is the future, guys.
