There’s no denying that Kristen Stewart has gone through quite a transformation since her Twilight days.
Gone is her trademark chest-skimming hairdo and in its place is a super-cool crop.
Now the 25-year-old has revealed exactly why she decided to go for such a dramatic cut last summer. And we’ve gotta say, we totally applaud her for it.
‘My hair was such a crutch. I looked quote unquote “sexy” no matter what. I could hide behind it,’ Kristen tells Marie Claire US.
‘As soon as I didn’t have all that hair, I had to let my face hang out. I felt more confident than I had in a really long time. And it felt really good.
‘Maybe to most people long hair is prettier. But then what? Is your main goal in life to be desired? That is boring as f***.’
We think it’s great that Kristen is feeling happier with herself. Especially when you consider that she found her younger years somewhat difficult.
‘Between ages 15 and 20, it was really intense. I was constantly anxious. I was kind of a control freak,’ she admits.
‘If I didn’t know how something was going to turn out, I would make myself ill, or just be locked up or inhibited in a way that was really debilitating.
‘I’m really proud that I am able to move forward and not fall into every mental crater. That’s a new thing for me. Age has made me smarter and calmer. And it is f****** awesome.’
Kristen did receive a lot of attention back then – she spent much of her late teens and early 20s in a much-speculated on relationship with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.
She admitted to cheating with her Snow White And The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders in 2012, after which their romance came to a very public end.
Before they split, she’d given the heartfelt statement: ‘Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry,’ and her mum later gave some insight into the scandal.
Jules Mann-Stewart told the Sunday Mirror last month: ‘I’m very sad that Kristen and Robert didn’t have a chance to be alone together.
‘They had to have the whole world with them and all the public stuff ruined everything, life became overwhelming.’
Now Kristen is happily dating her personal assistant Alicia Cargile. And she seems to have a totally different attitude to life.
‘Lately, I’ve been doing less of the “I’m sooooo sorry.” And more of the “No. F***. Jesus,”‘ she says.
