Messy hair on DAKS and Rosie Assoulin catwalk

Hairstyle How-To Video: The Messy Up-Do

Messy up-do’s are the perfect style for wedding and party season, they take hardly any time to do and look even more amazing the messier they get. What more could you want? So, our Beauty Editor, Samantha Freedman, has put together a really easy to follow video, on how to create messy hair up.

We’ve seen the look all over the catwalk at Dolce & Gabbana, Daks and Rosie Assoulin. It’s also perfect for getting it up and off your shoulders, especially if you’re prone to getting sweaty when you dance. One of Sam’s top tips is to use hair elastic bands that match your hair shade, so you don’t need to worry about big ugly bobbles sticking out.

> Dolce & Gabbana seriously know how to accessorise!

The best thing about this style is you can accessorise it without it looking too young or overly pretty. On the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer ’15 catwalk model up-do’s were given a gorgeous crown hair band, or a rose slipped into the back. Simple. But seriously chic.

The messy up do also looks super cute with a plait across the front of your hairline, or if you’ve got a fringe leave it out to add into the messy texture. Don’t worry too much about making the plait or the fringe look perfect, it’s all about giving hair an un-done feel, so it doesn’t look like you’ve spent hours getting ready.

So if you’re heading to a wedding, a special occasion, or you just want a new style to try, give the messy up do a go. We promise you won’t be disappointed. All it takes is 60-seconds of your time…pretty genius we think!
