Turning your pout into a shimmering work of art is a thing now, thanks to make up artist Pat McGrath…
When we first spied glitter lips on the Versace AW16 catwalk we thought they were just for special types (aka models). How could real life *regular* lips ever be so sparkly? Answer: make up artist Pat McGrath.
Fashion week fave Pat has created the glitteriest lip kit ever and Insta is going nuts about it.
Unlike Kylie Jenner’s successful lip liner ‘n’ lipstick combo, Pat’s lip kit comes with five products. There are two hyper-pigmented matte lipsticks, a clear gloss that delivers the most vinyl finish, a metallic pigment and a microfine glitter.
Glitter Lips Are The New Thing
The idea is that the wearer can wear either a single shade of matte, a combination of the two for a cool ombre effect, slick with gloss or layered with glitter. We’re obviously happy to plump for the glitter because have you SEEN it?
To get a ruby slippers-style pout Pat recommends slicking on your chosen lipstick followed by the gloss and then the metallic pigment. Pressing the microfine glitter on last to get that hypnotising dazzle.
In one video Bella Hadid is seen wearing the shimmering red shade backstage at the Versace show. After applying the glitter, a make up artist (probably Pat) can be seen using sticky tape to grab any fallen glitter from the rest of the model’s face.
The A-list Love Pat McGrath’s Glitter Lip Kits
And if the products were cool enough, the packaging is. Housed in a laboratory-like plastic square and packed with sequins, these lippies are some of the most fabulously wrapped we have ever seen.
One of Pat’s muses, Kim Kardashian’s new BFF Golden Barbie, models both the glitter and gloss finishes on the MUA’s Instagram account. It’s actually hypnotic the way both looks shine.
But utterly gorgeous as these glitter pouts look, we don’t think they’re the comfiest to wear. All that gritty glitter getting everywhere…
Then again, who really cares about comfort when your mouth looks like a disco ball?
