GBBO’s Candice Brown Defends Her Love Of Lipstick And Heels

The Great British Bake Off winner has defended her colourful make-up (and killer heels) during her time on the show as she hits back at the trolls...

With The Great British Bake Off now over for another year (sob), we’ve been mourning the loss of one of our favourite shows.

But at least we’ve got winner Candice Brown keeping us going, as she’s been revealing all about her time on GBBO…

First up, the question we all want to know – where did that love of lippy-whilst-baking come from?!

Candice has defended her love of lipstick and wearing heels whilst baking…

Well, Candice admits it’s just her thing. You know?

‘I’ve always worn [lipstick],’ she told Loose Women. ‘When I went on there I thought, “I’m not going to go on looking like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards”, not at the beginning anyway.

‘At the end it was very much dragged through a hedge backwards and covered in chocolate, but so I thought obviously I will wear make-up, but I love lipstick and I’ve always worn it.’


Candice also received a few comments about her decision to bake in heels from viewers on Twitter. But she says she simply brushed them off and decided to own it.

‘Heels and lipstick… What else can you bake in?’ she joked.

YES, Candice.

After admitting that reading nasty comments about her appearance was ‘hurtful’, Candice went on to address those rumours about her and fellow finalist Jane Beedle’s ‘clash’.

Many viewers thought Candice got a little ‘bitchy’ when Jane was awarded a double handshake from Paul Hollywood during the final. But Candice has addressed the speculation.

‘We got on brilliantly’, she said, rubbishing the claims. ‘They used to have to tell us, “remember this is a competition”… We got on so well and I just love Jane and I couldn’t have shared that moment [in the final] with two better bakers, I mean they were all amazing, but those two…’
