Fearne Cotton Nails The Statement Look

Fearne Cotton is known for being the Queen of Cool, and once again she has a finger firmly on the fashion pulse – specifically her ring finger.

The Radio One DJ posted an Instagram pic of her two-tone talons, and we’ve got some serious nail envy. This mani is a gorgeous combination of sophisticated and bright, and is the perfect example of the single statement nail trend that’s sweeping red carpet and high street alike. It’s easy to wear, eye-catching and so hot right now – not to mention a great way to test the waters with daring colours and textures.

Want to get a handful of the action? Here are three of our favourite combinations.

We’d be willing to bet that the exact shades Fearne is rocking in her Instapic are the Victoria Beckham for Nails Inc Polishes, £45 for two. Mrs Beckham’s Bamboo White is a delicate neutral, and makes an elegant base for a statement nail look; while the Judo Red is vibrant and juicy, adding a splash of colour when applied to the ring finger. Plus, the sleek bottles are the ultimate in Posh Spice chic. With both VB and Fearne’s approval, we’re sold!

A patterned statement nail is a great way to subtly inject a bit of texture into your look, without going overboard. Using Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Provocation, £18, paint your nails a deep berry colour. Then, using WAH London Nail Art Pen in White, £7.99, and Finishing Touches Nail Decorating Pen in Silver, £4.99, add some pattern to your ring fingers. If you’re the creative type, try an Aztec print or a wintry plaid, but if you’re feeling lazy, go for bold stripes, or tiny polkadots. P.S. Doing nail art on only two of your nails is so much less pressure than trying to tackle them all!

It’s nearly Christmas, so it’s the perfect excuse to add a sprinkle of glitter to your nails. For office-to-office-party nails, clash a warm, rose gold with a festive green. Make eight of your nails sparkle with Deborah Lippmann Glitter Nail Polish in Enchanted Evening, £18, then make them pop with a matte accent nail – try Cheeky Chat Me Up Nail Paint in Moss-Behaving, £7. Finish the look with a slick of lippie, slip your feet into your best party heels and boom! You’re ready!
