How To: Easy Smokey Eye Tutorial

With Christmas just around the corner, it's time to get practising that smokey eye

Whether you’re a make-up addict or like to save your glam for special occasions – it’s no secret that the easiest way to update your look is a smokey-eye.

But perfecting your smouldering smokey-eye can be somewhat tricky. So we’ve roped in LOOK’s Deputy Beauty Editor Chloe to show us how it’s done with our super easy smokey eye tutorial. Because once you’ve got the technique down, you’re sorted.

Easy Smokey Eye Tutorial

Start with your lightest base colour and blend this all over the eyelid. In the video, Chloe’s using a light shade from the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette.

Next, you want to build up the colour of your smokey eye. This colour could be anything really, from grey to gold! Chloe is using the Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Synergy which is a gorge warm copper shade.

Take an even darker eyeshadow shade (this could be a dark brown, green or black) and blend this along the top lash line and outer corner of the eye. Make sure you keep blending this with a clean fluffy brush, so that you don’t get any harsh lines.

Next up, to create even more depth, take a really soft eyeliner and build up the colour. Chloe’s using a light brown 3INA Kajal Liner, and tracing over where she just applied the darker shadow. Keep blending with a fluffy brush.

Finish by lining the inside of your waterline with a black pencil eyeliner and apply loads of mascara. At this point, if you’re feeling brave – you could add false eyelashes for an even more dramatic smokey-eye!

And there you have it… a super easy smokey-eye for Christmas, parties or your standard Saturday night. Once you’ve mastered the technique, you can use any shades, colours or products you want. Just remember to keep blending!!
