With summer literally just around the corner, there's no better excuse to invest in a new pair of shoes. Now that it's nice and warm, it's high time to expose your toes and take on this season's hottest sandal trends, so pack away your ankle boots, take your trainers off and get aboard this summer's sandal train now!Last year, it became all about Birkenstocks, sliders and seriously comfty footwear. 'The rise of the ugly shoe' meant that we threw out our delicate, strappy sandals and made way for chunky-soled, thick-strapped shoes that looked seriously practical and started to look suspiciously like what was in your Gran's shoedrobe. This season, that trend is going nowhere fast. From Burberry's dad sandals to Birkenstocks on the Houghton catwalk, the fashion world is still totally obsessed with functional flats, even making way for Velcro straps and spongy soles. Make sure to tap into this trend with the uber-edgy sliders flooding the high street. We are loving Adidas' ponyhair slip ons and are still seriously crushing on everything jelly at Juju. But it's not all about sensible sliders this summer. The lace-up flats that saw us through spring in style have made a mark on this season too. Whether tied up to your ankle or all the way up your calf in serious gladiator style, everyone stylish will be rocking a lace-up in the sun. If you want to take a more feminine stance with your sandals this summer, then you should definitely join the lace-up brigade. The only shoe rivalling gladiators as the biggest footwear of summer? Clogs. Yep that's right. Ever since Prada sent it's ladies down the catwalk in chunky, wooden-soled sandals, the fashion world has started a love affair with the contraversial shoe and the high street has jumped on board. And if you're in the market for something a little more dressy, then worry not we have got you covered in the heel department too. From T-bar caged courts to brightly coloured block heel strappies, your perfect night-out footwear is in our edit, so what are you waiting for? Come and check it out.By Amy de Klerk

Every good shoedrobe needs a pair of suede boots. A modern fashion staple, suede boots are a shoe trend that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.Suede made headlines this season with designers including Gucci, Chloe and Micheal Kors all sending suede looks down the runway, and a pair of suede boots is a wearable way to embrace this trend. While some suede boots may set you back a few pennies this perennial style is well worth investing in. Plus, due to their extreme versatility, a good pair of suede boots will see you through all seasons and occasions. In winter we love a thigh high suede boot. Not only will they keep your legs super snug they seriously increase the style credentials of any outfit. Pair with an on-trend smock dress for an office look with a difference, or style with a pair of skinnies and an oversized knit for a weekend look that is both cosy and chic.In the summer months a suede Chelsea boot is a must-have style. Partner with bare legs and slip dress for a nineties take on evening dressing, or with a A-line skirt and slogan T-shirt for perfect picnicking attire. Suede boots are also worth packing for any festival adventures. Team with ripped jeans and a leather jacket, or if the weather is kind a floral playsuit. To help you with your ankle boot mission we’ve rounded up some of the best new suede boot styles on the high street now. Our edit covers flat and heeled boots, ankle and thigh high boots, and colours to suit your look, whatever your personal style. After all, you can never have too many pairs of boots, right?!Looking for some more shopping inspiration? A pair of good shoes can make an outfit, and a pair of good heels can transform one.High heels have the power to instantly alter your mood and confidence like no other item in your wardrobe. Slipping into a pair of sky-high stilettos makes you feel ready for anything whether that is an interview for that dream job, a big date, or a night out on the tiles. What we also love about a pair of trusty heels is their ability to completely elevate the most simple of outfits. Throw on some jeans and a plain white shirt and your outfit may be pretty ordinary but by adding a pair of statement shoes you can make it something much for exciting. Statement shoes have the ability to turns heads, and demand attention. To help you on your quest to find that perfect pair of high heels we have scoured the shops for the best heeled beauties. Including pairs from high street favourites Topshop, River Island and New Look, each one of these gems is affordable as well as totally stylish. The pointed court shoe is still a popular and wearable heel option. Available in a rainbow of hue’s there is one for you whatever your personal style.Cage heels are another trend that is still reigning the high street. With sexy cut out details these gems are made for party dressing. This season shoe details are also bigger than ever. Pom-poms, ankle-straps and tassels all make an appearance in our round-up.As Marilyn Monroe famously said: “I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot.” We couldn’t put it better ourselves. If you’re looking for more footwear inspiration why not check out our block heel gallery? Or more shopping ideas take a look at our edit of leather jackets.

There's no doubt about it, knee high boots are having a bit of fashion moment right now. From thigh high heeled beauties, to super practical-come-stylish flats, boots that pack a bit of height are shooting to the very top of our transitional lust list this season and we can't wait to shop the trend. And yes, whilst we all mourn the passing of the summer months, there's something very exciting about selecting those all-important fall staples to be worn day after day once the weather turns cooler - and luckily for us, the long boot trend is one that will take us all the way into next year and beyond. And the great thing about investing in a pair of long boots is that there really is a style to suit every shape and budget, plus, you'll be spending the rest of the season feeling so snug in your new signature boots that you won't even notice that it's miserable outside. Happy days.Channel your inner '70s diva with a pair of tan or mink coloured suede platform boots like the ones we found in Next and Topshop. Pair with a patch pocket denim midi skirt and a super soft roll-neck sweater for ultimate That '70s Show vibes, or else embrace a more rockster edge by teaming with leather shorts and an oversized boyfriend knit. Just don't forget a signature lip.SEE: '70s Fashion: The Vintage-Inspired Trend We're LovingA flat, classic riding boot like those we saw in M&S will provide the perfect winter office update when worn with a jacquard print skirt and blazer, and will also look just as sophisticated when dressed down at the weekends over skinny jeans and your favourite plaid overshirt. Of course, you can't go far wrong with a basic black colourway, but don't be frightened to embrace prints such as snake or leopard if you want to add a bit more interest to a dark seasonal wardrobe.SEE: Winter Coats To Fall In Love WithAnd don't forget, a heeled long boot will also help work your capsule wardrobe that bit harder once the busy party season rolls around. All it takes is to switch your office skirt length from midi to mini, and hey presto, you are ready to rock the office Christmas party without even having to stash extra heels in your bag.So here we are ladies, all the best knee high boots from the high street and beyond. Happy shopping.
