When Katie hit our screens in 1998 as Joey on Dawson’s Creek, our girl crush was first ignited. All big Bambi eyes and flick brown hair, Joey was our ultimate style icon for her ’90s stonewash jeans, tank tops and pretty tea dresses. Oh, and for having Joshua Jackson’s Pacey as her on/off boyfriend. *Swoon.*
Fast forward a couple of years, and Katie Holmes scored herself an A-list boyfriend. Step up, Tom Cruise. The couple hit red carpet after red carpet, with Katie looking every inch the leading lady in a whole host of sweeping, Hollywood-style gowns. Grown-up Katie Holmes had arrived. And who could forget that elegant slim-silhouetted Armani dress she wore for their wedding in Italy?! A true fairytale.
2007 brought a new hairstyle (a blunt bob) and a brand new new LA friendship with Britain’s biggest style icon, Victoria Beckham. The pair stepped out at numerous events together (even with matching hair crops) and fast became two of the most unlikely yet stylish celebrity duos in town. But while Katie and Tom’s marriage didn’t last, Katie’s newfound fashion confidence definitely did.
After her divorce, we saw Katie looking stylish as a new mum with daughter Suri, and finding her high-fashion feet in a series of gorgeous ensembles. Now, Katie is one of our favourite red carpet rulers, and can pull off a Stella McCartney tux just as well as a Valentino LBD.
Whether she’s getting girly in a puffy pink Zac Posen dress buttoning up in her favourite sleek and chic Alexander McQueen coat, it’s true to say Katie has recently emerged as a sassy, confident single lady. In fact, she’s looking sexier than ever! After it was rumoured she was dating A-list actor Jamie Foxx, Katie started to wear her most daring outfits yet – who could forget her turning up to the Zac Posen party earlier this year wearing slicked-down retro hair, a vampy scarlett lip and a skintight LBD?
Phew. We can’t wait to see what she wears next.
