Zayn Malik has hit back at claims he stole the idea for his Mind Of Mine album artwork.
The 23-year-old unveiled the cover of his debut solo record last week – and it caused quite the reaction over on Twitter.
The image shows Zayn as a youngster, with his now-famous tattoo collection Photoshopped onto his arms.
It’s pretty adorable. But some reckoned he may have been inspired by Lil Wayne, whose albums Tha Carter III and Tha Carter IV were created with a similar idea in mind.
Tweets included: ‘Zayn Malik a bum for tryna copy my Dawg lil Wayne [sic],’ and: ‘Zayn Malik is trying a lil wayne.’
However, Zayn’s since shut down the allegations, responding with: ‘I’m not tryna be no rapper , my album is me a child .. My ideas have been with me a long time [sic].
‘Use your brain, appreciate art don’t discriminate what you don’t understand.’
The ex-One Direction singer also re-Tweeted a collage of album covers featuring children, which had been captioned: ‘Lil Wayne didn’t trademark using baby pictures as cover art fam.
‘Zayn just following legends that’s it.’
Hmm. Whatever people think, there’s no denying that Mind Of Mine looks set to be one huge success once it’s released on 25 March.
