Sam Bailey has won the 2013 X Factor after bagging the ultimate prize in Sunday night’s final against Nicholas McDonald.
Battling it out in a two-night sing-off at Wembley Arena, which saw Luke Friend take a respectable third place, it was Sam’s Sch-Amazing duet with Nicole Scherzinger that sent Twitter into meltdown.
Talking exclusively to LOOK backstage on the night, Sam said she just couldn’t wait to perform with the former Pussycay Doll.
‘My duet with Nicole is electric. I think the Holy Spirit is going to take over when we get out there and sing it,’ she revealed, marking it as her favourite song of the weekend.
Adding: ‘I know it’ll go down as a historic moment, judging by the reaction it got in rehearsals.’
Needless to say we already has goosebumps as Sam talked us through her set from the make-up chair: ‘I’m supposed to be on voice rest but I can’t keep my mouth shut for five minutes’. Oops!
As for the atmosphere behind-the-scenes, the former Prison Officer and mum-of-two said: ‘Everyone is quiet, but I said from this morning that I was just going to have fun.
‘I’ve been a bit cheeky all day because I’m not going to get this moment back.’
Marking her win with a tearful celebration alongside coach Sharon Osbourne, Sam went onto reveal what kind of album she plans to make (in between opening for Beyoncé at London’s O2 Arena, wahhh!): ‘One that suits everybody. I’ve shown my diversity in the show and I want to carry on showing that throughout.
‘I want an album that everybody will love the songs from, not just picking up the album and saying, ‘I only like number 3’. I want people to actually say, ‘my mum would love that one’, ‘that song my dad would love’, or ‘my daughter would love that song’. So it’s something for everyone!’
