The 20-year-old star took to Twitter to say sorry for scaring his fans after the snap, which has since been deleted, was posted online by one of Liam’s friends.
‘You may have seen a photo of me today, taken on top of a building’, the One Direction star wrote. ‘I regret being there and having a photo taken of me. I do not endorse any fans trying to repeat this as it is extremely dangerous.’
He continued: ‘It was a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. I am sorry.’
In the picture, the Wolverhampton-born lad is seen balancing on a ledge 360ft up outside his 34th floor London flat. Eesh. We’re getting vertigo just looking at it!
And his devoted One Direction fans were quick to give Zayn Malik‘s bandmate a berating for setting their hearts a-flutter.
‘That photo of @Real_Liam_Payneon that balcony really gave me a mini heart attack … please don’t do that again!’, wrote one.
Poor Liam’s been having a bit of a hard time of it lately – he’s also been speaking out on Twitter to ask fans not to loiter outside his London home after fans worked out where he lived.
‘I’d just like to be able to walk outside as everyone does and enjoy time with my friends, not feel bad for not wanting to take a picture’, he posted.
Oh Liam. Get over here for a squeeze!
