Nick Grimshaw has revealed the real reason why he quit The X Factor.
The 31-year-old replaced Louis Walsh on the judging panel last year, but he announced in February that he was bowing out after just one series.
A spokesperson for Grimmy explained: ‘After careful consideration, Nick has decided to rule himself out as a judge on this year’s X Factor.
‘He loved working on last year’s series alongside Rita [Ora], Cheryl [Fernandez-Versini] and Simon [Cowell] but it was very much a once in a lifetime experience. He remains a massive fan of the show and is looking forward to watching it this year.’
X Factor also released a statement, which read: ‘Nick was a great mentor on last year’s series. He did a fantastic job with the boys’ category and we’d like to thank him for all his hard work. We are sad to see him go but wish him all the best.’
As expected, there were plenty of rumours surrounding his shock exit. But there’s actually a pretty simple explanation behind it.
Nick was having to juggle The X Factor with his hosting duties on Radio 1’s Breakfast Show. And as it turns out, that’s not so easy.
He tells the Daily Star: ‘I was doing the show in the morning and then working on X Factor from midday to midnight. It was every day. I will miss X Factor but I don’t regret my decision to go.
‘There hadn’t been any discussions when I made my decision.

‘So I thought before there were months of speculation over who was going to be back, I’d say I didn’t want to and get it out of the way.’
Crikey, that does sound tough. We’re gonna miss you, Grimmy!
