One Direction’s Niall Horan is following in the footsteps of the Queen next year, landing himself a spot on some special edition bank notes in Ireland. Yep, the Irish singer’s fame is set to go stratospheric in 2014 as the Irish Independent reports that his (gorgeous) little face will appear on 10,000 social edition notes. Woah.
The town of Mullingar is introducing what is calls the ‘tourism currency’ which will be minted by the locall chamber of commerce and means that Directioners – and local shoppers – can spend the notes across the town from January. What’s more, they’ll even be entitled to some special offers. SERIOUSLY.
Chamber president Pat Whelan said: ‘The Gar (as the currency is known to locals) has been in circulation since 2011 and we decided it would be great to honour Niall by releasing a special edition Gar with Niall’s face.
‘We are all ‘One Direction’ fans and we are proud to see one of our young men from the town doing so well for himself.’
Our purses are in for a treat come 2014. Will you be snapping some up?
