Victoria And Harper Beckham Spark A Parenting Debate

It was a very special weekend for the Victoria and David Beckham… their daughter Harper turned five!

Yep. It really has been half a decade since the couple welcomed their fourth child into the world.

So while we sat around feeling insanely old, Victoria celebrated the special occasion by sharing a super-cute Instagram snap of herself and her little girl.

In the photo, we saw 42-year-old Posh planting a kiss on Harper as they relaxed in a serene-looking swimming pool. Adorable, huh?

She’d captioned the image: ‘Happy Birthday baby girl. We all love you so much X @davidbeckham @brooklynbeckham kisses from mummy X.’

It was *this* image that got people talking

Of course, the majority of her followers were quick to send sweet messages to the birthday girl.

Comments included: ‘Beautiful picture of a mother and daughters love happy 5th birthday Harper x,’ and: ‘Happy birthday!! And what a beautiful photo showing a great bond you have with your daughter [sic].’

But while the shot was clearly popular (it’s been liked by over half a million people), it still ended up causing a bit of controversy.

Why’s this? Because some people didn’t like the fact that Vic was kissing her little girl on the lips.

One Instagram user wrote: ‘Eww sorry I’m old fashioned it looks like they making out,’ while another said: ‘A lot of kids get cold sores from their parents kissing them on the mouth.’

Erm. We’re not sure what to say to this apart from… are they for real?!

Luckily for Vic, she received plenty of support from fans and fellow parents.

She received messages as: ‘Gorgeous photo. Sorry to hear you’re getting stick for it,’ and: ‘Wonderful picture – I kiss both my children on the lips all the time.’
