Amber Dowding has been forced to apologise for her escaped convict-inspired Halloween costume that appeared to show her with make-up on her wrists...
The TOWIE girls always go all out when it comes to their Halloween costumes. But this year, one of the girls found herself under fire for her ghoulish choice…
Amber Dowding faced a backlash when she posted a selfie to her Instagram account showing off her scary make-up and fake scars on her neck and wrists to go with her escaped convict-themed costume.
Amber completed her look with a black and white convict-inspired striped mini dress, lace-up boots and a handcuff belt.
However, considering it’s recently been Mental Health Week, and a tonne of awareness is currently being raised to address depression, mental health and suicide, some TOWIE fans felt that Amber’s make-up was in poor taste.
‘Slit wrists bit insensitive considering it’s just been mental health week #epicfail’, one angry fan commented.
‘The make up artist is very talented in creating this, however this isn’t what I’d call Halloween, more the consequence of self harm, not nice… I’m sure your intention wasn’t to upset anyone though’, remarked another.
Whilst a third said: ‘Sure it wasn’t ur intention but out of order having the wrists done, very insensitive’.
Amber has since issued an apology, and tried to explain that the marks on her wrists weren’t meant to be the result of self-harm, but instead was supposed to look like handcuff injuries.
‘I am sorry if I have upset anyone’, Amber said. ‘As you will see in my next picture I am a prisoner and they are cuts from the handcuffs.’
