Tom Cruise Divorce Interview Is False, Says Rep

Tom Cruise has denied reports that he spoke about his divorce from Katie Holmes in an interview with a German TV show this week.

Tom was quoted as saying that he “hadn’t expected” Katie to file for divorce and the comment was picked up by global media as it appeared to be the first time the star had talked candidly about the break-up of his marriage.

It was claimed Tom said: “I did not expect that. Life is a challenge… To be 50 and have experiences and think you have everything under control, and then it hits you — that’s what life is… Life is tragicomic. You need a certain sense of humor.”

His spokesperson has now issued a statement denying that Tom spoke openly about his divorce, saying today: “The entire interview was about his career. He was not asked any personal questions. It is all false.”

Tom did the original interview with German TV network ProSieben. It was then taken by German tabloid Bunte, who mixed it with “some real and made up quotes”, according to Tom’s rep.

In fact, Tom didn’t speak about his personal life at all, and only talked about turning 50 when discussing his new movie, Oblivion. He told ProSieben: “For my 50th birthday [the director] Joe and the studio gave me a bubble bike. It was so amazing… I was allowed to ride it in areas where you are no longer allowed to drive. [Iceland] is a beautiful country… It’s great to be 50 … I enjoy it.”

So there you have it. As you were, people.
