The Faux Crop Is The New Hair Trend You Need To Try

Love the idea of going short but not ready to fully commit? Then the faux crop could be your new fave hair trend.

The ’20s-inspired faux bob has been sweeping the red carpet, with everyone from Taylor Swift to Emma Roberts and Zooey Deschanel giving jaw-length locks a go with the help of some nifty pinning. And now there’s an even shorter variation on the trend taking over – enter, the faux crop.

Sienna Miller had us swooning when she showed off a slicked-back slightly parted ‘do at the Foxcatcher premiere this week. With her face-length locks concealed in a taut ponytail at the nape of her neck, she created the illusion of an androgynous wet-look crop. Worn with kohl-rimmed eyes, it was oh so on-trend and just a touch vampy.

Next, cue fellow short hair fan Lily Allen, who arrived at the Chanel No 5 the Film dinner in New York with her rainbow bob pinned high on the crown into a tiny, beehive to give the illusion of a cute coiffed bob. She finished her retro look with a soft side-swept fringe.

Will you be giving the faux crop a whirl? Here are the tools you’ll need…

1) Arm yourself with plenty of pins and a strong hold hairspray to recreate Lily’s tucked-under style.

2) For Sienna’s super-modern look, you’ll need a strong hold gel to comb through your hair in two sections, plus a clear hair elastic to hold back your lengths and a high-shine wax to set. Check out L’Oreal’s Tencni.Art range for tips.
