Leading the sequin-clad Strictly crew was model and football WAG Abbey Clancy, who strutted her stuff in a look-at-me sequin and feathered dress. Feline popstrel Sophie Ellis-Bextor also came up trumps in the frock stakes, sticking to her classic ladylike style and donning a slightly more demure rhinestone-encrusted number, while leggy presenter Tess Daly stunned in a backless gold and black gown. Nice one, ladies!
Also getting their glam on ahead of the big event was Countdown‘s Rachel Riley, TV’s Vanessa Feltz, BBC Breakfast host Susanna Reid, Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden, former Corrie actress Natalie Gumede, rugby player Ben Cohen, actress Fiona Fullerton, Hairy Biker’s Dave Myers, Hollyoaks‘ Ashley Taylor Dawson, Casualty star Patrick Robinson, Waterloo Road‘s Mark Benton and designer Julien Macdonald who all make up this year’s star-studded line-up.
The bookies’ early favourites to win are Countdown’s Rachel Riley and model-turned-footballer’s wife Abbey Clancy, who said of her hubby Peter Crouch last night: “I think he’s too big to be my dance partner. As you know, Peter loves a dance and I think he’s more excited than I am about it.” Let’s hope Crouchy’s going to be teaching her the robot ahead of her big d-floor debut!
Strictly Come Dancing 2013 starts Saturday 7th September on BBC1.
