Strictly Come Dancing contestant Sophie Ellis-Bextor looks ready to pirouette her way up the leader board without so much as stubbing her partner’s toe – let alone turning the ITV studios into a crime scene.
“I feel very at home,” said the Murder On The Dancefloor singer, when LOOK caught up with her at the launch of the BBC One show this week. “I love all the sparkles and layers of glitter. Me and the makeup artist are planning different looks, and I can’t wait.”
And while we can’t reveal who Sophie’s partner is just yet (we’re sworn to secrecy), the 34-year-old singer – who is competing against the likes of Abbey Clancy, Coronation Street actress Natalie Gumede, Vanessa Feltz, Deborah Meaden and hunky rugby star Ben Cohen was keen to let us know that they’re getting along really well.
“You really do form bonds, surprisingly so,” she said. “I feel very happy, honoured and privileged.”
Sophie’s super-secret partner seems equally elated about hs new dancing pupil. “Sophie and I were lucky, because we were able to have a lot of time in the dances,” he explains.
“We did have a couple of moments where we nearly lost it, but we worked. We bond and we joke – it’s a great partnership.”
Which sounds lovely. Time for a new song, perhaps Soph?
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ launch show airs on Saturday at 6.50pm on BBC One.
