Why Samia Ghadie Cried Before Returning To Corrie

We’re loving having Samia Ghadie back on our screens as Coronation Street‘s Maria Connor.

As viewers know, the 33-year-old took a break from the soap last year to welcome son Yves Joseph with fiancé Sylvain Longchambon.

But she returned in April, and has since promised us that her character is set to be part of an exciting storyline later this year. Ooh.

While Samia is looking forward to getting stuck into work, she’s admitted that she found it pretty tough returning to the cobbles.

She tells OK!: ‘It’s been lovely to see everybody again. I enjoy being busy but obviously I miss being with Yves, too. He’s still only tiny.

‘I was crying the night before. I was thinking: “How am I going to do this?” But the main thing is that we know Yves is safe. No matter what happens, I’m coming home to him every night.

‘Sometimes I have to do long days, but some weeks I’m at home for a few days because of our filming schedule.’

Aw. We’re sure Sylvain’s got it covered, lady!

So what’s in store for Maria over the next few months? Well, Samia’s keeping her lips sealed. But it sounds good.

The mum-of-two says: ‘It’s been really exciting opening the new scripts and reading what’s coming! Since Maria and Luke [Britton] got engaged, things have been quite smooth for them so it’s just been a matter of time before something or someone is going to change that.

‘I love it when there’s a bit of drama for my character and this new storyline has different threads to it involving quite a few people. There’s trouble ahead in more ways than one!’
