Ryan Gosling has confessed that he’s planning to take a break from acting. EEK. But don’t go fretting he’s going to spend his time settling down and making babies with Eva Mendes, Gosling fans. It turns out the star just wants to spend more time behind the camera. Phew!
Ryan tells The Huffington Post: “I’ve been doing [acting] too much. I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing. I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it.
“And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does.”
He added: “There’s a lot of pressure to be the lead of a film. I have done it. It’s not my favourite way to work.”
So what’s next? Ryan will be directing his first first film, How To Catch A Monster, which commences filming in May. He’ll be directing his Drive co-star Christina Hendricks, Ben Mendolsohn, Saoirse Ronan, Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith and (of course) Eva Mendes.
If you need an assistant or anything, Ryan, just give us a call, yeah? We’re going to miss your beardy face on the big screen… RM
