Sam Womack’s Tweet About Ronnie Mitchell’s Death Upsets Fans

The 44-year-old actress jokes about her EastEnders character drowning, but viewers think it's WAY too soon...

EastEnders has been one big ol’ emotional rollercoaster this week.

On New Year’s Day, we saw sisters Ronnie (Samantha Womack) and Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) come to a murky end at the bottom of a swimming pool. *Cries*.

Ronnie Roxy Mitchell death

Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell met their deaths earlier this week

It was Ronnie and Jack Branning’s wedding day, and the ladies were celebrating with a drunken dip. Y’know, as you do.

Roxy kicked things off by jumping in the water. But sadly, she never returned to the surface.

In a bid to save her, Ronnie leapt in after her. However, her wedding dress was too heavy and she ended up getting tangled in her veil and drowning. NOOOO.

Jack Branning

Viewers were heartbroken to see Jack Branning crying over the death of his new wife

On last night’s show, we saw Jack (Scott Maslen) learn the tragic news, and it was all very heartbreaking.

Viewers’ Tweets included: ‘Full on crying my eyes out at eastenders πŸ˜©πŸ’”,’ and: ‘Crying watching tonight’s #eastenders poor poor jack 😭😭 @bbceastenders [sic].’

Sam, 44, clearly felt just as strongly, writing on her page: ‘I’m sorry I can’t respond to any comments..I’m honestly broken. An appropriate end to the darkest year ever.@OfficialRita @RealScottMaslen πŸ’”.’

Rita, 39, added: ‘Thank you all for your lovely tweets. I don’t really have words right now. But words will come.. in good time #R&R.’

The pair are now enjoying some very well-deserved downtime. But unfortunately for Sam, she ended up being criticised for a message she penned about a pampering sesh a day later.

She told fans: ‘Started my day off at @champneys with a……. swim in the pool!Pleased to announce I am now enjoying breakfast. Thank you champneys Tring x.’

A lovely way to mark the start of a new chapter, right?! But some thought it was too soon for her to be mentioning the P word.

One wrote: ‘No pool talk pleaseπŸ˜ͺ,’ while others said: ‘Be careful Sam don’t do what Ronnie did 😭😭😭,’ and: ‘#toosoon.’

LOLz. Maybe bring your arm bands next time, lady…
