Reese Witherspoon Cancels TV Appearances Following Arrest

Reese Witherspoon has cancelled two high-profile TV appearances in the US, following her shock arrest for disorderly conduct on Friday night.

News emerged yesterday that the Oscar-winning actress was arrested along with her hubby Jim Toth, after they were spotted driving erratically in Atlanta following a dinner date. Jim now faces charges for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Reese attended the New York premiere of her new movie, Mud, on Sunday night but didn’t give any interviews. She’s now cancelled tonight’s episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and her appearance on Good Morning America on Wednesday.

Yesterday, she apologised for the incident, saying: “I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse.

“I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behaviour.”

A source close to Reese’s hubby, a Hollywood agent, told People he “feels awful that he involved Reese in the situation”. The couple are due to appear in court on 22 May.

We were SO looking forward to those interviews…
