Things Got Very Heated When President Trump Was Discussed On This Morning

So it's safe to say that Phillip Schofield is not a fan of Donald Trump...

Possibly speaking on behalf of millions, Phillip Schofield failed to hide his true feelings surrounding the US presidential election today, telling viewers across the nation that Donald Trump ‘frightens the life out of me.’

Two Republican supporters took a spot on This Morning today, during a post-election segment.

Diamond and Silk, who joined the ITV show via a video link, spoke about their hopes for the future of America under Trump’s presidency.

The pair shared their belief that Donald would work hard to re-build America’s transport systems –  including trains, tunnels and airports. But when questioned about the country’s debt, they replied simply: ‘He will find a way. He is always on time and under budget.’

Right.

Schofe provided pretty sassy responses to their comments, offering grins and a thumbs up.

But viewers seemed divided on Phil’s interview technique. Whilst many agreed with him, and are obviously reeling from the shock results, a number questioned whether he should have mocked his guests.

Tweets included: ‘OK, you got the sassy moves @Schofe but it was a tad rude to those girls you were interviewing…’ and ‘@Schofe time for us to be balanced and strong x’.

Others seemed to love his honesty, taking to social media to support him.

After a long night of very close results, the Republican candidate beat Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump will be the next President of the United States.

This morning, at his victory speech in Manhattan, Trump announced: ‘I will be president for all Americans.’

He continued, ‘Working together, we will begin the urgent task of rebuilding our nation and renewing the American dream. The forgotten men and women will be forgotten no longer.’

On the whole, celebrities and the internet haven’t reacted too kindly to the news.
