Olly Murs Talks About *That* Awkward Rita Ora Moment

We were all a little bit worried that Olly Murs may have fallen out with Rita Ora after The X Factor on Sunday.

The 31-year-old host had looked more than little upset when Rita, 25, appeared to make an awkward dig at him at the end of the live final. Eek.

Rita Ora Rita Ora was called out on Twitter after Sunday’s show

As she celebrated her act Louisa Johnson winning the show, Rita made the impassioned speech: ‘I’m so proud of her. I’ve watched this show and I’ve been such a fan of this show.

‘But there’s only two people in my opinion that have made this impression, and that’s Leona [Lewis] and Louisa… and that’s honest!’

We have to agree that both Louisa and Leona – who scooped the title back in 2006 – are two of the most memorable contestants we’ve seen.

Rita Ora and Louisa Johnson on The X Factor Rita Ora was clearly very excited about Louisa Johnson being announced the winner

But Rita seemed to have forgotten that Olly actually started on The X Factor himself, coming runner-up to Joe McElderry in 2009.

His career hasn’t exactly been too shabby since. He’s enjoyed plenty of chart success and, of course, landed some major presenting roles.

Immediately after the awkward incident, viewers took to Twitter to comment on Rita’s ‘snub’.

Caroline Flack and Olly Murs on The X Factor Olly Murs definitely looked a little disappointed

One wrote: ‘LOL is Rita Ora ruuuude? Olly Murs is standing right there,’ while another said: ‘@RitaOra seriously should apologise for disrespecting Olly Murs.’

Now, we’re sure she’d just got caught up in the excitement of the moment .

And it seems Olly agrees, telling the Daily Mirror: ‘Bless Rita, she texted me saying” “I’m sorry if I offended you.”

‘I said: “Rita, are you serious? As If I’d get offended. I know what you were trying to say.” She was so apologetic but I was like: “Rita, I’m not even annoyed.”

‘We all knew what Rita was saying. We were drinking in the corridors, having a laugh on Sunday. Then the next day, she was texting me saying “Are you okay?”‘.

Phew. Things could’ve got messy there.
