Roberto Cavalli Addresses Beyoncé Sketch Criticism

Beyonce in a radically Photoshopped image on Roberto Cavalli's press release

Roberto Cavalli has responded to criticism over his distorted Beyoncé sketch by tweeting a link to an official statement posted on his Facebook page, which states that the image was an artistic drawing and not a Photoshopped photo.

Written by the team behind the Italian fashon house, the statement read:

"Dear Fans,

We would like to clarify that the image of the gown created by Roberto Cavalli for Beyoncé is a sketch and not a photo, and therefore it is only meant to be a stylized and artistic vision. Roberto Cavalli loves women and more than anyone else has always exalted and highlighted the female shape with his creations, building his signature style on the glorification of sensuality and femininity."

The image, which was originally sent out in a press release by team Cavalli, shows the Grown Woman singer wearing a show-stopping multi-coloured silk gown but provoked outrage after her body proportions appeared to have been significantly altered.

Beyoncé is known for possessing the body of most girls' (and guys') dreams, so a press release from designer Roberto Cavalli has caused a stir amongst some of her fans.

The Italian fashion house sent out the release to promote the showstopping multi-coloured muslin silk gown Cavalli designed exclusively for the singer's The Mrs Carter Show World Tour. But in place of Bey's voluptious curves was a slim figure featuring long super-slender legs. While it has provoked outrage from some Beyonce fans, who took to Roberto Cavalli's Facebook page to post angry comments, many fashion insiders see nothing wrong with the sketch, saying that it is commonplace in the fashion industry for designers to draw elongated images to showcase garments.

31-year-old Beyoncé, who is married to rapper Jay-Z, has previously made a stand against her body being Photoshopped for campaign shots but as yet, the singer hasn't commented on the Cavalli image.
