Naya, 29, discovered she was expecting actor Ryan Dorsey’s child in late 2010 – just weeks after breaking up with him.

Due to their split, she chose to ‘put her career first’, and terminated the pregnancy during a day off from filming Glee.

Ryan wasn’t informed at the time. However, they ended up getting married in 2014 and now have 11-month-old son Josey together.

Naya’s admitted that she was ‘scared’ to share her story, telling People: ‘It’s not something a lot of people talk about, but I think they should.

‘I know some people might read it and say: “What the Hell?” But I hope someone out there gets something out of it.’

And of the book – which also tackles her battle with anorexia – she says: ‘I hope Josey will read it one day. I hope it gives him a better perspective on the issues women face.’

Unfortunately, Naya has received some criticism over her revelations.

But she’s since hit back on Twitter, explaining: ‘I set out to write a book that was true to myself and would hopefully help others along the way. Media will always distort anything.

‘I hope that you all enjoy my story and respect my good intentions in sharing them with you. Xoxo ❤️❤️ #sorrynotsorry.’

Since then, the majority of comments have been positive.

One reads: ‘Thank u @NayaRivera for sharing. I felt no shame when I had my abortion but the world tried to force me to. women like u are so helpful.’

Another says: ‘Thank you @NayaRivera for sharing your abortion story – shattering stigma & shame that isolate & silence too many. ?.’

One month away! #sorrynotsorry
