When Beyoncé Took London – And LOOK Went Along

Beyoncé landed at the O2 Arena last night for the gig of a lifetime, so we sent self-confessed superfan and LOOK Features Ed Devinder to go shake her booty and get the lowdown. Here’s what she made of it…

“As Beyonce’s biggest fan (question this if you dare), I knew I was in for one of the best gigs of my life – and she didn’t disappoint!

I donned my ‘If In Doubt Get Sasha Out’ T-shirt and tried to control my excited hyperventilating, only to then Lose My Breath with the starting chords of Run The World (Girls). It was an explosive start with much booty shaking from Sasha Fierce and her dancers, all dressed in angelic white with big bouncy hair.

Four songs in came the only hiccup of the night: a mash-up of If I Were A Boy with The Verve’s Bitter Sweet Symphony. The songs just didn’t gel and the audience were left confused. But Mrs Carter soon picked things up again, belting out hits like Crazy In Love, Single Ladies and Survivor – the crowd were singing along loudly enough to lose their voices.

And Beyoncé, as always, excelled in the fashion stakes too, my favourite outfit being the red ‘Freakum Dress’ by Israeli designer Alon Livne. The highlight was her flying over the audience in a sparkly purple catsuit, landing centre stage and belting out Irreplaceable All hail Queen Bey!

She finished with a snippet of I Will Always Love You as a tribute to Whitney, then an epic version of Halo.

And of course, I loved every minute and left feeling exhausted after dancing to a set of well over 20 songs. I can only imagine how Beyonce felt!”
