Miley Cyrus Talks Liam Hemsworth: “I’d Wanted To Leave Him For Months”

Miley Cyrus had revealed in a new interview that not only was she was behind her break-up from actor fiancé Liam Hemsworth, but that she’d been planning to leave the Hunger Games hunk for months.

The couple only officially announced the end of their engagement last week – but the 20-year-old singer has confessed that she was inspired to write emotional next single Drive, which is all about wanting to end a relationship, way back in February.

“I wrote it while I was working on Valentine’s Day – emotionally it was such a hard time”, Miley told Fashion magazine. “It’s about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship. It’s a time when you want to leave but you can’t. It’s also about moving on.”

The former teen actress was last seen visibly welling up on stage at the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas during her performance of Wrecking Ball, sparking rumours that it was Miley who was dumped by Liam.

She was also then said to be keeping her 3.5 carat engagement ring as a sentimental reminder of their time together.

But with twerking pro Miley’s latest revelation that it was her who did the ditching (not to mention the whispers of her rumoured new squeeze, producer Mike Will Made It), and her Aussie ex Liam looking pretty cheery at his latest red carpet appearance (who’s also said to have moved on with Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez), it looks like this split was for the best all round.
