Melissa McCarthy has spoken out about her recent weight loss. And what she said might surprise you.
The 45-year-old actress hit the headlines earlier this week at The Boss premiere in LA when she turned up in a flowing white dress (looking beautiful) for the first time since shedding 50 lbs.
When asked about her weight loss on the red carpet, Melissa said: ‘I have [lost weight], but I’ll be back again. I’ll be up, I’ll be down, probably for the rest of my life.’
‘The thing is, if that is the most interesting thing about me, I need to go have a lavender farm in Minnesota and give this up.’
And that’s the thing. Despite being significantly slimmer, the Spy actress is still constantly disappointed with Hollywood’s obsession with actresses being slim.
‘There has to be something more. There are so many more intriguing things about women than their butt or their this or their that’, she said.
McCarthy went on to explain that she has to keep reminding herself that her industry can be extremely fickle.
‘I know I am not the “norm”,’ she told Refinery 29. ‘I don’t know any perfect women. What people pass off as “normal,” I just have to keep in my head that it’s bulls**t. It’s all fictitious, made-up stuff.’
Melissa added: ‘I know some of those women in those magazines who get called perfect or whose butt is supposedly better, and often they don’t even look like that in person.’
